Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • current ServSafe certificate or willingness to undergo training
  • minimum one year cooking experience preferably in senior living or related setting
  • ability to handle multiple priorities effectively
  • strong communication skills
  • organizational and time management competence
  • sound judgment and decision making skills
  • compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • ability to pass pre-employment drug test, tuberculosis test, physical evaluation, and background check as required
  • willingness to receive vaccinations if mandated by federal, state, or local laws

Job Qualifications

  • ServSafe certificate or ability to become certified
  • associates degree in Culinary Arts preferred
  • one year experience as a cook in a Senior Living Community preferred
  • effective written and verbal communication skills
  • competency in organizational and time management skills
  • good judgment, problem solving, and decision making abilities

Job Duties

  • Prepares and coordinates meal service and sanitation of food service areas
  • assists Executive Chef or Dining Service Coordinator in daily shift supervision and controlling food costs
  • adheres to product order guide and approved menu programming
  • manages team in absence of Dining Services Coordinator
  • prepares food items using standardized recipes and ensures timely production
  • applies culinary math for accurate production levels
  • prepares correct portions and plate presentations
  • prepares special dietary and texture-modified foods
  • records and maintains food production, taste evaluation, and food safety equipment temperature records
  • reviews and updates resident dietary information
  • follows food safety, sanitation, and maintenance protocols
  • performs cleaning and sanitation duties
  • maintains kitchen equipment and organization
  • ensures compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
  • participates in team meetings and training
  • contributes to team success and engagement initiatives
