Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- At least 6 months experience in an OPH-DFW kitchen
- Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods (up to 9 hours)
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience in kitchen supervision or culinary roles
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, portion control, and food safety standards
- Experience with kitchen sanitation and cleanliness procedures
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- Familiarity with food cost control and inventory management
- Ability to train and lead kitchen staff effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to upholding health and safety regulations
Job Duties
- Directly responsible for all kitchen functions including food purchasing, preparation and maintenance of quality standards

- Accurately and efficiently prepare menu items as well portion food products prior to cooking
- Perform other duties in food and final plate preparation including plating cooked items according to OPH standards
- Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served
- Ensure food and products are prepared and served according to recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations
- Portion food products prior to cooking according to standards and recipes
- Follow proper plate presentation for all dishes
- Handle, store and rotate products properly (FIFO)
- Assist in food prep during off-peak periods
- Close kitchen properly following closing checklist
- Attend employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
- Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and operations
- Prepare required paperwork including forms, reports and schedules
- Ensure equipment is clean and maintained
- Order products according to specifications and receive deliveries per policies
- Control food cost and usage through proper requisition, storage, and waste control
- Administer corrective action for violations of policies
- Oversee training of kitchen personnel in equipment safety and sanitation practices
- Maintain cleaning schedules for kitchen and food storage areas
- Check and maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperatures
- Provide safety training including first aid, CPR and handling hazardous materials
