Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Two-year college or technical school degree preferred
  • At least one year of kitchen experience preferred
  • Must have current Food Handler’s Permit
  • Ability to enjoy working with and handling kitchen products
  • Passion for preparing, cooking, and eating food
  • Ability to use good judgment and make decisions quickly and independently
  • Knowledge of food, ingredients, knife skills, and cooking techniques
  • Ability to read and follow recipes accurately
  • Basic math skills for recipe adjustments
  • Ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback and accountability
  • Integrity, positive attitude, and mission-driven mindset
  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Basic math skills used to double or half a recipe
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Solid communication skills including verbal and listening skills
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally and appropriately
  • Ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of the team
  • Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and self-directed
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the kitchen provides
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the kitchen
  • Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items
  • Ensures the kitchen is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Prepares all chef-prepared items in the kitchen including salads, entrees, soups, hot case items, etc. following Harmons’ recipes
  • Prepares food for special orders and events
  • Receiving and stocking of product
  • Trains chefs and prep cooks
  • Writing production sheets based on department needs and past and projected sales
  • Responsible for inventory and ordering product for the kitchen
  • Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement
  • Assists as needed to ensure the success of the kitchen as a whole
