Job Requirements

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring physical endurance and dexterity
  • Consistent use of proper body mechanics
  • Ability to independently push transport stretcher carrying patients up to 250 pounds
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years related experience in patient care, inventory management or maintenance
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to complete mandatory continuing education and maintain certifications

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or educational equivalent
  • Additional training in inventory management, maintenance, sterile aseptic technique, biohazardous material decontamination and disinfecting, CNA and customer relations preferred
  • Minimum of two years of related experience preferably in customer relations, inventory management, patient care, maintenance or biohazardous waste removal
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write and perform basic math
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a patient care team
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to coordinate diverse responsibilities

Job Duties

  • Provide physical assistance to nursing staff performing patient care and transport patients throughout the hospital as needed
  • Transport patients safely, courteously, and in a timely manner to all receiving patient care units
  • Perform cleaning tasks and responsibilities to ensure sanitary condition of clinical and non-clinical areas
  • Set up cleaning equipment and supplies at the beginning of each shift
  • Maintain and transport medical-surgical equipment including inventory control
  • Maintain supply inventory and provide errand services for units
  • Participate in unit activities and complete mandatory continuing education
