Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • able to stand for extended periods
  • capable of lifting objects over 30 pounds
  • comply with facility codes of conduct and safety policies
  • wear personal protective equipment when handling infectious materials
  • adhere to daily sanitation and cleaning schedules
  • must be reliable and punctual
  • legally authorized to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous housekeeping or laundry experience preferred
  • ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
  • understanding of infection control protocols
  • physical ability to lift and move heavy laundry items
  • attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned
  • perform specific tasks according to daily work assignments
  • empty and sanitize ash trays daily
  • clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and room heating/cooling units in resident rooms and recreational areas
  • clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures removing water marks
  • clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways
  • sweep, dust, mop, strip, wax, buff, and disinfect floors ensuring safety signs are used
  • clean carpets including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting
  • clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing
  • remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from equipment and floor surfaces using proper solutions
  • discard waste and trash into proper containers and reline with plastic liners
  • clean vacant rooms as assigned
  • ensure work/assignment areas are clean and equipment stored properly
  • perform isolation cleaning according to infection control procedures
  • discard infectious wastes appropriately
  • collect, sort, and weigh soiled laundry and place in assigned containers
  • sort laundry requiring special stain treatment
  • wash, press, fold, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry and linen to residents
  • transport laundry using carts that may exceed 30 pounds
  • adhere to all facility safety and infection control policies
  • knock before entering resident rooms
  • assure residents' rights to fair and equitable treatment
  • comply with all regulations by federal, state, and accrediting agencies
  • other duties as assigned
