Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in housekeeping or laundry preferred
  • physical ability to lift objects over 30 pounds
  • ability to stand for up to 8 hours
  • adherence to facility policies and safety protocols
  • ability to use personal protective equipment appropriately
  • willingness to follow infection control procedures
  • reliable and punctual
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior housekeeping or laundry experience in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility preferred
  • ability to follow detailed instructions and comply with facility policies and regulatory standards
  • knowledge of health and safety standards including infection control
  • ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff
  • physical ability to lift and move heavy objects safely
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect for resident rights

Job Duties

  • Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned
  • perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
  • empty and sanitize ash trays daily
  • clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, and room heating/cooling units daily as instructed
  • clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures ensuring water marks are removed
  • clean windows and mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrances/exits
  • clean floors including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting
  • clean carpets including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting
  • clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing
  • remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions
  • discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles
  • perform isolation cleaning procedures per infection control guidelines
  • collect, sort, and weigh soiled laundry and place in containers or designated areas
  • sort laundry items requiring special stain removal/treatment
  • wash, press, fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute laundry items to residents
  • transport laundry items pushing carts potentially exceeding 30 pounds
  • keep work areas and equipment clean and properly stored
  • ensure compliance with safety policies and wear personal protective equipment as required
  • maintain an equitable treatment environment respecting resident rights
  • file complaints/grievances with supervisors as necessary
  • perform other duties as assigned
