- knowledge of clothing cleaning needs
- knowledge of laundry room equipment
- excellent organizational skills
- ability to wash, dry and pack laundry
- ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- ability to use judgement to determine cleaning needs
Job Duties
- Sorts linen and uniforms and determines whether each piece goes into the tumbler or ironer
- folds garment or feeds through sheet folder and stores in appropriate storage area
- ensures each department receives the appropriate linens
- observes operation of machines and reports minor adjustments or malfunctioning to supervisor
- marks new linen and clothes as assigned
- promotes positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees, physicians, patients and visitors
- ensures confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment
