Job Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Subject to background/suitability investigation
  • May serve a probationary period
  • Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Complete application package including resume and transcripts
  • Complete online onboarding process
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, stand, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to handle linen weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Willingness to use personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
  • Good interpersonal skills for dealing with patients, visitors, and staff

Job Qualifications

  • Evidence of training or experience demonstrating ability to perform duties
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, and technical practices
  • Skills in operation of laundry equipment and machinery
  • Demonstrated special aptitude and work practices relevant to laundry operations
  • Experience in customer service within a healthcare or similar environment

Job Duties

  • Work independently and understand and interpret written and verbal instructions to complete assigned duties
  • Provide customer service to all ward, clinical, and surgical areas of the medical center using carts, baskets, and assorted delivery and processing equipment
  • Recognize differences between fabrics for sorting and washing purposes to ensure appropriate chemicals and equipment are used
  • Fold rough dry items, operate machinery such as feeder, ironer, and small piece folder, and appropriately stack, bundle, and store textiles for shipment
  • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the patient clothing room, clean linen area, all offices in the laundry, break room, sewing room, baggage room, and storage rooms through vacuuming, dusting, wet mopping, and use of air pressure
  • Interact with patients, visitors, and medical center staff with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling soiled and isolation linens
