Job Duties

  • Ensure that work and cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
  • report all accidents and incidents to supervisor in the same shift
  • coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services
  • attend departmental and staff meetings as directed
  • perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
  • file complaints or grievances with supervisor
  • participate in department studies and projects
  • attend educational and training programs
  • follow established fire safety policies and use safety equipment properly
  • maintain clean, safe, and sanitary work areas
  • follow proper chemical mixing and storage procedures
  • report hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor
  • maintain infection control and universal precautions in laundry procedures
  • use personal protective equipment correctly
  • discard sharps appropriately
  • follow hand washing and sanitation procedures
  • coordinate isolation procedures with nursing services
  • maintain adequate supplies of laundry and linen
  • report equipment malfunctions
  • assist in lifting heavy items
  • clean and store equipment properly
  • perform day-to-day laundry functions including sorting, washing, pressing, folding, and distribution
  • clean floors, walls, and equipment
  • maintain resident confidentiality and honor personal rights
  • report complaints of missing property
  • turn in found articles to supervisor
  • work in various facility areas and cope with interruptions
  • communicate effectively with residents and staff
  • work extended hours or emergency call-backs as needed
  • adhere to health and safety standards
