Job Requirements
- Physically capable to perform hands-on work including bending, twisting, stretching, repetitive motion, pushing, pulling, and safely lifting or moving up to 25 pounds
- dependable and punctual
- able to absorb on-the-job training and apply new skills effectively
- able to follow established policies and procedures
- able to adhere to infection control guidelines
Job Qualifications
- Detail oriented individual
- previous housekeeping experience preferred but not required
- ability to work effectively as part of a team
- willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions
- strong communication skills
- able to engage with residents in a respectful and professional manner
Job Duties
- Follows community’s policies and procedures for handling, storing, processing, and transporting linen and residents’ personal laundry
- complies with infection control requirements of the laundry and uses appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies, as necessary
- establishes and adheres to laundry schedule to ensure adequate supply of clean laundry is available in all required areas
- assigns schedules/duties for laundry team members as appropriate
- sorts and loads laundry as designated
- washes linen, clothing and other items and records weights for each load
- irons linen and clothing
- reads labels on personal laundry prior to washing
- reports any damaged or lost clothing articles to the supervisor
- arranges for repairs and/or replacements, as necessary
- ensures residents’ garments are properly labeled and labels items, as appropriate
- follows all written infection control procedures established by the community and performs other related duties as assigned
