Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in laundry or housekeeping preferred
  • ability to operate laundry machinery
  • knowledge of OSHA chemical safety standards
  • ability to lift and move heavy items
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • flexible availability including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Sort all stained or damaged items and determine status for rewash or discard
  • maintain continuous inventory of discarded items
  • operate ironing and folding machines according to specifications
  • fold cleaned articles and stack by type and size
  • place stacks in specified distribution areas
  • remove lint and debris from dryer filters
  • use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
  • check working condition and cleanliness of laundry machinery
  • monitor usage of chemicals and water to maximize consumption
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
  • restock work areas for next shift
  • turn in all lost and found items and guest room keys
  • adhere to company policies and procedures
  • follow safety and security procedures and rules
  • know fire prevention and emergency procedures
  • utilize protective equipment
  • report unsafe conditions to management
  • report accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss
  • provide for a safe work environment by following safety and security procedures
  • maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
  • perform related duties as requested by supervisor or manager
  • assist other housekeeping personnel when needed
