- ability to operate laundering machines
- knowledge of laundry chemicals and safety practices
- physical ability to lift and move heavy laundry items
- willingness to maintain cleanliness and follow procedures
- good communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school degree preferred
- previous experience in healthcare laundering processes preferred
- ability to follow safety guidelines especially MSDS
- capability to operate laundry machinery
- good physical stamina for lifting and sorting laundry
- strong attention to detail
- dependable and punctual with good work ethic
Job Duties
- Folds and sorts laundry including blankets sheets towels and personal clothing items
- hangs clothes on racks according to name and numbers
- delivers patient and resident laundry to designated areas
- ensures that patients and residents clothes are ready to wear not in disrepair and put in proper place
- understands functions of various soaps and bleaches
- follows precautions as stated on MSDS for all chemicals used
- washes and dries clothes and linens
- keeps equipment clean and follows cleaning schedules
- maintains a clean and organized area sweeps and mops laundry area
- reports any needed repairs to maintenance department
- operates large filters according to established schedules
- ensures proper handling of soiled laundry items
- cleans and disinfects linen carts as required per policy and procedure
- empties washers and dryers as requested or necessary
- operates water gas and electric cutoff switches and valves
- understands the proper process for stain removal
