Job Duties
- Folds and sorts laundry items such as blankets, sheets, towels, and personal clothing
- Hangs clothes on racks according to name and numbers
- Delivers patient and resident laundry to designated areas
- Ensures patients and residents clothes are ready to wear and properly placed
- Understands functions of various soaps and bleaches
- Follows precautions as stated on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals used
- Washes and dries clothes and linens
- Keeps equipment clean and follows cleaning schedules
- Maintains a clean and organized laundry area including sweeping and mopping
- Reports needed repairs to maintenance department
- Operates large filters according to schedules
- Ensures proper handling of soiled laundry items
- Cleans and disinfects linen carts per policy
- Empties washers and dryers as necessary
- Operates water, gas, and electric cutoff switches and valves
- Understands proper stain removal processes
