Job Qualifications
- High school degree preferred
- Previous experience in healthcare laundering processes preferred
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols
- Basic knowledge of cleaning agents and laundry equipment operation
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Folds and sorts laundry including blankets, sheets, towels, and personal clothing items
- Hangs clothes on racks according to name and numbers
- Delivers patient or resident laundry to designated areas
- Ensures that patients' or residents' clothes are ready to wear, not in disrepair, and put in proper place
- Understands functions of various soaps and bleaches
- Follows precautions as stated on MSDS for all chemicals used
- Washes and dries clothes and linens
- Keeps equipment clean and follows cleaning schedules
- Maintains a clean and organized area including sweeping and mopping laundry area
- Reports any needed repairs to maintenance department
- Operates large filters according to established schedules
- Ensures proper handling of soiled laundry items
- Cleans and disinfects linen carts as required per policy and procedure
- Empties washers and dryers as requested or necessary
- Operates water, gas, and electric cutoff switches and valves
- Understands the proper process for stain removal
