Job Requirements
- ability to lift, move, and carry at least 25 pounds to a height of five feet
- ability to push, pull, move, or carry such weight for a distance of at least 50 feet
- willingness to wear and use safety equipment such as back braces and mechanical lifts
- reliable attendance and punctuality
- ability to follow safety and fire policies
- ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information
- basic understanding of chemical handling procedures
- ability to clean and maintain work area
- competency in reporting incidents promptly
- effective communication with supervisors
- ability to work according to established schedules and protocols
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous experience in a healthcare laundry or housekeeping environment is an advantage
- knowledge of laundry equipment operation and maintenance
- familiarity with chemical safety and MSDS guidelines
- ability to use personal protective equipment properly
- capability to follow oral and written instructions
- good communication skills
- physical ability to perform required lifting and moving tasks
- commitment to workplace safety and sanitation standards
Job Duties
- perform day-to-day laundry department activities according to federal, state, and local regulations
- assure facility cleanliness, safety, and sanitation
- maintain adequate linen supply to meet residents' needs
- follow work and cleaning schedules closely
- report accidents and incidents to supervisor
- coordinate laundry services with nursing during routine resident area assignments
- adhere to fire safety policies and procedures
- wear and use safety equipment when handling heavy objects
- maintain assigned work areas in clean, safe, and sanitary condition
- follow proper chemical mixing and handling techniques
- refer to MSDS as necessary
- use personal protective equipment when handling infectious materials
- communicate supply needs to supervisor
- keep work areas free of hazards such as spills and excess equipment
- clean work and supply carts and equipment as directed
- store equipment properly after use
- perform tasks according to established laundry procedures
- distribute clean laundry during emergencies as instructed
- maintain confidentiality of resident care information
- report unauthorized disclosures
- maintain supplies, equipment, and laundry area appearance for sanitation, order, and safety
- follow instructions for cleaning compounds and liquids
- physically handle weights up to 25 pounds safely
