Job Qualifications
- High school degree preferred
- previous experience in healthcare laundering processes preferred
- basic knowledge of laundry equipment and cleaning agents
- understanding of safety procedures related to chemical handling
- ability to follow detailed instructions and cleaning schedules
- good organizational skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- basic physical ability to handle laundry loads and operate machinery
Job Duties
- Folds and sorts laundry items and personal clothing
- hangs clothes on racks according to name and identification number
- delivers patient or resident laundry to designated areas
- ensures clothes are wearable and properly stored
- understands functions of soaps and bleaches
- follows MSDS precautions for chemicals
- washes and dries clothes and linens
- keeps equipment clean and follows cleaning schedules
- maintains a clean and organized laundry area including sweeping and mopping
- reports needed repairs to maintenance
- operates large filters on schedule
- handles soiled laundry properly
- cleans and disinfects linen carts
- empties washers and dryers as needed
- operates water, gas, and electric cutoff switches and valves
- understands proper stain removal processes
