Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age or possess a work permit
- Must be able to understand the English language
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and housekeeping areas
- Must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties
- Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel and handle residents at various maturity levels
- Must possess ability to seek out new methods and incorporate them into housekeeping practices
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions for mixing cleaning compounds, liquids, disinfecting solutions
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
- Must meet general health requirements including medical and physical examination
- Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position
- Must have sight/hearing abilities or prosthetics to fulfill job duties
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds
- May be required to assist in evacuation during emergencies
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 8th grade education
- Ability to understand and communicate in English
- Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions
- Ability to deal tactfully with residents, personnel, and visitors
- Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions concerning cleaning and disinfecting
- Ability to relate information concerning resident conditions
- Physical ability to push, pull, move, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect resident rights
Job Duties
- Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
- Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor immediately
- Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services
- Attend departmental and staff meetings as directed
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments
- Clean, wash, sanitize, and dry resident clothing daily
- Sort, fold, hang resident clothing and deliver to resident rooms timely
- Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions
- Dispose of waste/trash appropriately and reline trash receptacles
- Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
