Job Duties
- provide superior customer service
- take orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answer customer questions regarding products and assist with selections
- prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
- slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
- assist in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up
- use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build sales
- clean and sanitize display cases
- operate and maintain equipment properly
- comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- comply with department and store operating procedures
- carry out additional department-specific responsibilities such as recording production and shrink in the bakery, managing ordering systems and inventory in the deli, or serving and packaging products in prepared foods
