Job Requirements
- able to read, write, speak and understand English
- adhere to departmental dress code
- able to stand and stoop for extended periods
- able to lift up to 25 pounds
- able to push or pull up to 100 pounds
- able to remember verbal and written tasks for an 8 hour shift
- able to concentrate with some interruptions
- willing to work 37.5 hours per week including some weekends for full-time
- part-time availability including every other weekend
- able to respond to emergency situations immediately
- willing to follow infection control and safety procedures
- capable of working in a well lighted and ventilated indoor environment
- able to handle chemicals and detergents safely
- able to maintain a positive and pleasant attitude
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- experience in laundry or housekeeping preferred
- ability to operate laundry equipment
- knowledge of infection control procedures
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- good communication skills
- ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines
- physically able to perform lifting, pushing and standing tasks
- positive attitude and customer service orientation
- basic understanding of workplace safety and cleaning protocols
Job Duties
- collect residents' soiled linens and clothing
- sort and remove stains
- operate equipment such as washer and dryer with minimal supervision
- report malfunctions to supervisor
- remove linens and clothing from dryers
- sort for distribution
- hang or iron as required
- fold, count and stack linens according to department, unit or supply room
- maintain records of linen usage
- notify supervisor of needs
- place linens on carts and clothing on racks
- distribute to appropriate departments or residents
- stamp all linens as needed
- fill emergency requisitions for extra linens
- inspect linens for wear and tear
- dispose of or set aside for repairs
- clean equipment and work area daily
- follow established regulations and policies when handling linens
- work effectively with residents, staff and supervisors
- handle soiled linen and clothing according to established infection control procedures
- properly maintain supplies and equipment
- attend in-service training programs
- maintain a positive, pleasant attitude
- treat residents with respect and courtesy
- assist in the Housekeeping Department as needed
- perform other duties as assigned
