Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to bend and kneel up to 10 percent of the time
  • ability to lift, reach, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk up to 90 percent of the time
  • able to work outdoors during all seasons of the year
  • ability to obtain State of California Qualified Applicators License (categories B and C) within one year if not already licensed
  • ability to pass a background check and be bonded
  • proof of valid driver license (Real ID) and acceptable motor vehicle report
  • capability to travel periodically to government or secure facilities requiring REAL ID-compliant identification

Job Qualifications

  • Willingness and ability to obtain a State of California Qualified Applicators License (category B and C) within one year of hire if not already licensed
  • desired valid applicator's license
  • proof of a valid driver license (Real ID) and an acceptable Motor Vehicle report
  • ability to use a smartphone to send/receive calls, text, and emails
  • possess knowledge of diagnosing and treating plant health problems
  • experience operating power and hand sprayers and granule application equipment
  • good communication skills to maintain professional client and supervisor relationships
  • capability to complete continuing education requirements for license maintenance

Job Duties

  • Diagnose insect, disease, and cultural/environmental conditions and recommend treatment options
  • apply various types of treatments to mitigate and eliminate weeds, plant disease, and destructive insects and rodents in the landscape
  • ensure proper filling/mixing procedures and material dilution are followed
  • operate and maintain various types of equipment, including but not limited to power and hand sprayers, granule application equipment, and rodent traps
  • drive a pickup truck with a tow-behind equipment trailer, often independently
  • maintain accurate and timely records
  • complete continuing education requirements needed to maintain an active Qualified Applicators License
  • uphold safety best practices and provide immediate reporting of unsafe working conditions and/or practices to the Supervisor
  • maintain open and professional communication with supervisors and clients to provide feedback on plant health care issues
  • other duties as assigned, including helping with maintenance, other projects when necessary
