Job Requirements

  • Top rope certified
  • first aid/CPR certified
  • ability to teach fundamental climbing techniques
  • lead belay certification preferred
  • experience in competition climbing
  • experience coaching youth sports preferred
  • availability to coach 3 or more days per week for advanced levels
  • availability to attend competitions and championship events
  • ability to lift and carry minimum 30lbs
  • patient and adaptable coaching style
  • strong communication skills
  • willingness to collaborate with multiple departments

Job Duties

  • Lead recreational team practices for various ages and abilities with provided curriculum
  • work with kids in Sender City and primary climbing facilities during camps
  • assist and communicate with team members and other departments
  • motivate athletes of all levels and ages
  • manage climbing risks and guide on gym etiquette
  • answer program-related questions and connect with parents
  • assist with check-in and out processes
  • maintain high product knowledge of gym offerings
  • assist with Pro Shop products
  • complete department and operations checklists on time
  • lead Climbing Academy classes
  • provide feedback to new coaches
  • coach training, competition, or intermediate teams
  • teach lead climbing and belaying
  • implement strength and conditioning training
  • build lesson plans to modify curriculum
  • lead team huddles
  • field questions from parents
  • manage daily schedule to meet team ratios
  • attend competitions and assist with department administration
  • oversee specific coaching specializations
