Job Requirements
- must be 18 years of age or older
- must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- must have general knowledge of grounds keeping and landscaping functions
- must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license
- must be willing and able to be at work when scheduled
- maintain a good attendance record
- willing to work overtime if required
- must be able to operate designated equipment safely and effectively
- must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment
- must be willing and able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment
- good writing and verbal communication skills
- must be able to operate a computerized based terminal and have working knowledge of common software applications
- must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform essential functions including drills and emergency requirements
- must be able to obtain and maintain all required training outlined in master training plan
- must perform work duties safely and effectively at all times
- must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III system
- must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain security clearance
- must be able to obtain and maintain Hawthorne Army Depot site access
- must be a United States citizen or permanent resident
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- general knowledge of grounds keeping and landscaping functions
- good writing and verbal communication skills
- ability to operate a computerized terminal and common software applications
- ability to maintain fitness-for-duty standards
- able to obtain and maintain all required training as outlined in Amentum's master training plan
- six months of direct grounds or landscaping experience preferred
Job Duties
- perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees
- perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations
- work overtime as required
- maintain a good attendance record
- read and understand task hazard analysis for identifying risks to health and safety during job specific tasks
- perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned
- report potential real environmental concerns to the environmental service
- perform a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade and craft work including painters or warehousing activities
- operate power lawn mower, jack hammer and power tools
- operate garden tractors with attachments under guidance
- operate chain saws, trimmers, edgers, sweepers, rototillers, and power scythes
- adjust mechanisms, oils and cleans equipment
- troubleshoot, replace, and repair irrigation system components
- assist skilled trades by retrieving tools, materials and equipment
- hold, move, rearrange, lift, carry, or stack items and objects
- clean tools, equipment and work areas
- dig and grade ditches and trenches with pick and shovel
- fill and level holes in damaged roadways
- mix materials and level patch surfaces with tamper
- set forms, mix and pour concrete
- load and unload trucks and other conveyances
- move, pack, unpack, sort, segregate, arrange, stack, pile or relocate supply items
- apply salt or ice control material, shovel snow from steps and walks
- pick up litter
- mow and water lawn within specified distance
- build, move and disassemble depot furniture
- maintain warehouses and shop areas clean and orderly
- remove and dispose of oil, hydraulic fluid, and other spilled liquids properly
- move boxes of varied weights, crates, disassembled equipment, parts or obstacles to clean area
- pick up scraps of wood, metal or other material
- assist with janitorial duties such as sweep, mop, strip, scrub, wax and polish floors using heavy industrial equipment
- vacuum rugs and drapes
- wash walls
- change buffers, brushes and other attachments
- adjust and oil equipment
- wash and replace venetian blinds, ceiling fixtures and room partitions
- remove stains using chemicals
- wash and clean windows inside and outside using ladders and scaffolds
