Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience working in a professional kitchen, bakery, or culinary lab environment
- valid California Driver License and proof of insurance
- ability to obtain ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification within 7 days of hire
- ability to obtain First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
- physical ability to perform duties in a laboratory and industrial kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and various hazards
- ability to work occasional nights and weekends
- commitment to regular attendance and punctuality
- must reside in California during employment
- ability to comply with confidentiality policies
- ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- hands-on experience in professional kitchen, bakery, or culinary lab environment
- knowledge of culinary arts, food safety, sanitation, and restaurant operations
- ability to operate and maintain culinary and laboratory equipment
- strong communication skills in English, both oral and written
- familiarity with inventory management and basic accounting principles
- ability to provide training and direction to student workers
- proficiency in computer applications like word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
- commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification (or ability to obtain within 7 days of hire)

Job Duties
- Set-up, prepare, and break-down culinary labs and classes, ensuring all necessary equipment and ingredients are available and properly prepared
- provide hands-on assistance during culinary labs and the on-campus restaurant, helping students with techniques, equipment, and food preparation
- provide troubleshooting assistance for equipment malfunctions or supply issues, perform routine and preventative maintenance and minor repairs
- assist in the setup and breakdown of the on-campus restaurant and support both front-of-house and back-of-house operations
- maintain inventory of culinary supplies, track and document usage, and facilitate timely replenishment
- conduct regular inspections to ensure safety protocols are followed and provide guidance on proper equipment usage
- assist faculty with instructional support, including the preparation of instructional materials and grading support
