Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of technical or vocational school training
  • Valid driver's license
  • Accredited Medical Lab Associate certification
  • Accredited Phlebotomy Technician certification
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and infection control policies
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and customer service abilities

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical or vocational school education
  • Valid driver’s license from an EV Accredited Issuing Body
  • Medical Lab Associate (MLA-ASCP) certification from an accredited issuing body
  • Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) certification from an EV Accredited Issuing Body

Job Duties

  • Perform cytopreparatory staining and accession surgical cases with knowledge of anatomy
  • Receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth
  • Clean and disinfect laboratory equipment and spaces, maintaining inventory control and supply stocking
  • Participate in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment and procedures
  • Provide resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and support education to clinical staff
  • Follow appropriate safety policies including use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling
  • Collect patient, physician, and test order information to create patient accounts, verifying identification, insurance, credentials, and requirements
  • Perform blood specimen collection, including phlebotomy and skin puncture for all age groups
  • Perform various support activities such as answering telephones, clerical and receptionist duties
  • Perform point-of-care testing and associated quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and result reporting
  • Receive, process, and transport patient specimens including centrifugation and aliquoting
  • Load preanalytical instruments or deliver specimens to the testing department
  • Transport hazardous waste following proper training and safety protocols
  • Perform blood and blood component processing, storing, shipping, modifying, and selecting compatible products using a validated Transfusion Information System
  • Carry out other duties as assigned
