Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Safety (ServSafe) certification within 180 days from date of hire
  • ability to safely handle cleaning equipment and chemicals
  • ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting 20 to 50 pounds
  • availability to work variable shifts generally between 12:00 pm and 1:00 am
  • ability to work indoors around high temperatures and loud noises
  • ability to communicate effectively

Job Duties

  • Performs general kitchen cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned by the manager in charge
  • cleans and maintains assigned work areas including wiping, washing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal
  • performs a combination of traditional custodial work and ware-washing
  • directs, teaches, and monitors assigned students and temporary employees in custodial and ware-washing tasks
  • performs heavy labor tasks including equipment maintenance such as floor scrubbers and carpet vacuums
  • washes windows and interior/exterior surfaces in dining facility areas
  • separates and removes trash and garbage and manages waste recycling
  • cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, food preparation equipment, and trays
  • performs routine maintenance on dishwasher and other mechanical food preparation equipment
  • transfers supplies between delivery points, storage, and work areas
  • collects and delivers items for storeroom operations when needed
  • refills and organizes service tray display counters and tables
  • sets up tables and other furniture and equipment
