Job Duties

  • Performs general kitchen cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned by the manager in charge
  • cleans and maintains assigned work areas including dish-room, kitchen, dining rooms, food server areas and restrooms through wiping, washing, dusting, sweeping, mopping and trash removal
  • carries out a combination of traditional custodial work as well as ware-washing and dishwashing tasks
  • maintains cleanliness of facilities, equipment, and dining areas to create a safe and comfortable dining environment
  • performs general kitchen sanitation duties and supervises assigned student and temporary employees in custodial activities
  • performs heavy labor tasks for kitchen operations and cleans assigned equipment such as floor scrubbers and carpet vacuums
  • washes windows and interior/exterior surfaces in dining rooms, lobbies, kitchen offices, and other facility areas
  • separates and removes trash and garbage, supports recycling efforts and cleans garbage cans
  • carries out ware-washing duties including cleaning and sanitizing pots, pans, food preparation equipment and trays
  • cleans, sanitizes, and performs preventive maintenance on dishwashers and other mechanical food equipment
  • transfers supplies and equipment between delivery points, storage, and work areas and performs storeroom operations support
  • refills and organizes service tray display counters, cabinets, and tables
  • sets up tables and other furniture and equipment
  • directs and monitors student and temporary employees in basic ware-washing tasks
