Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 year experience in school food service or food service management
  • Must have or obtain Servsafe Kitchen Manager's Certification within 20 days of hire
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software
  • Ability to handle physical demands including standing, walking, lifting up to 40 pounds, and exposure to kitchen environmental factors
  • Must pass a criminal records check
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) preferred
  • 1 year experience in school food service or food service management including cooking, production, inventory, and personnel management
  • Must possess current Servsafe Kitchen Manager's Certification or ability to obtain within 20 days of hire
  • Ability to understand food preparation and safety instructions
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
  • Capable of operating small and large kitchen equipment and tools
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, students, and parents
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand instructions in written or oral English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with software such as POS and timekeeping systems
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations

Job Duties

  • Manage day-to-day kitchen operations adhering to Child Nutrition program guidelines
  • Direct, manage, and cross-train kitchen staff
  • Produce work schedules and manage employee absences
  • Manage personnel issues including coaching, conflict resolution, hiring, and termination
  • Manage food and supply storage and ensure adherence to safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Monitor kitchen equipment conditions and report work-related injuries
  • Coordinate and document monthly safety training with kitchen staff
  • Ensure staff adherence to standardized recipes and food quality standards
  • Manage production, ordering, inventory, and data entry in Titan Menu Planning System
  • Ensure proper counting and claiming process is followed
  • Monitor portion control for compliance with USDA/TDA meal patterns
  • Conduct weekly and physical inventories and maintain inventory records
  • Place accurate orders for production
  • Manage campus based Child Nutrition Program profit and loss
  • Implement effective cost control measures including inventory management, food waste management, and theft control
  • Perform daily cash drawer and sales reconciliation
  • Oversee student and staff lunch account balances and Free and Reduced Lunch applications
  • Coordinate meals for field trips and testing with Operations Directors
  • Provide input on kitchen staff hiring/termination and menu planning
  • Attend required trainings
  • Assist with other kitchen tasks such as delivering, cooking, cleaning, and serving
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff and parents
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
