Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior culinary education or equivalent experience
  • food handling certification
  • supervisory experience in a kitchen setting
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment operation
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours including event schedules
  • commitment to excellent attendance
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Professional culinary training or experience in fast-paced fine dining or catering
  • previous supervisory experience in a kitchen
  • ability to supervise kitchen staff effectively
  • able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
  • strong communication skills with employees, management, and guests
  • ability to speak, read and write English
  • ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • valid SNHD food handling card

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff work
  • display culinary preparation skills and teach proper preparation and food presentation
  • assist in controlling food and labor costs
  • conduct regular cleanliness and maintenance inspections
  • assist with monthly inventory
  • ensure timely delivery of high quality, fresh food
  • prepare hot and cold foods following recipes
  • participate as a team player with responsibilities in preparation and service
  • report kitchen equipment maintenance needs
  • maintain sanitation, health and safety standards
  • observe and test food for proper cooking
  • portion, arrange and garnish food plates
  • consult with senior chefs to plan menus and estimate food consumption
  • meet company attendance standards
