Job Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to stand and work outdoors for extended periods (at least 8 hours per shift)
  • ability to ensure efficient and effective operation of food production outlets
  • ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English with vendors, co-workers, and management
  • must live within 50 miles of the hotel
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
  • ability to maintain and update inventory
  • ability to meet quality and performance standards
  • ability to handle food preparation including special dietary requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary school or vocational school degree or certificate a plus
  • 1 to 2 years relevant experience in high-volume restaurant or hotel outlet preferred
  • general knowledge of line work including a la carte and short order stations
  • understanding of cooking and preparation principles such as saute, roast, bake, steam
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos
  • ability to write and perform daily prep lists and par sheets
  • self motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • ability to meet Omni Hotels & Resorts quality and performance standards

Job Duties

  • Assist in overall operation of culinary team
  • create schedules
  • execute orders
  • ensure quality experience for guests and associates
  • conduct daily mise en place and station set-up
  • prepare foods following recipes and production schedules
  • check portion control and weights before service
  • maintain high quality and consistency of food
  • inspect food products for display and functions
  • check inventory pars and communicate shortages
  • return unused or inferior food items to storage
  • assist preparation for special events and dietary requirements
  • work in a fast-paced team environment
  • control quality and consistency of food
  • order and receive culinary ingredients and supplies
  • conduct departmental line-ups
  • maintain cleanliness of food prep and production areas
  • conduct month end inventory
  • ensure work areas are set before service
  • assist in controlling food cost
  • prepare and plate dishes
  • report maintenance or security issues promptly
