Job Requirements
- Associates degree or equivalent experience in culinary arts or related field
- Must obtain current Food Handler Permit within 15 days of start date
- Must possess or be able to obtain Missouri Class E Driver's License within 90 days of hire
- Ability to work with large groups of residents/customers
- Intermediate level knowledge of cash handling and register operation
- Awareness of departmental cost control
- Basic computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work irregular hours
- Ability to communicate in simple sentences
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic
- Ability to perform tasting and smelling
- Ability to carry out written or oral instructions
- Ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 55 lbs
- Comfortable working in kitchen and restaurant environment with exposure to heat, cold, steam, sharp objects, and infectious diseases
- Willingness to assist other departments in emergency situations
Job Qualifications
- Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in culinary arts or related field
- Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Ability to work with a large group of residents/customers
- Intermediate knowledge of cash handling and cash register operation
- Awareness of cost control responsibilities within the department
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work irregular hours
- Ability to speak in simple sentences
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks and procedure manuals
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
- Ability to perform tasting and/or smelling
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
Job Duties
- Plan and direct the function of the food production department
- Ensure quality of food meets John Knox Village and state regulations
- Schedule staff and supervise the work of others
- Adhere to all safety regulations and requirements
- Handle stress well and maintain positive workplace relationships
- Maintain acceptable standards of workplace conduct
- Complete training hours as required by policy
