Job Description

Lakeside Grille is one of the seven distinct dining outlets featured at John Knox Village, a large residential community spread over 400 acres. John Knox Village is known for its diverse food service options that cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences. The village offers a mix of dining experiences including cafeteria style at Fireside, quick service at Lakeside Grille, and full-service restaurants like Courtyard Café, Places Restaurant, Stories Public House, and Metropolitan. Job Requirements

  • Must obtain current Food Handler Permit within 15 days of start date
  • must possess Missouri Class E Driver's License or obtain within 90 days of hire
  • ability to work in kitchen and restaurant environment
  • ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 55 lbs and prolonged standing
  • ability to work around heat, sharp instruments, and hazardous conditions
  • willingness to assist in emergency situations
  • ability to adhere to workplace conduct standards
  • tobacco-free
  • post-offer background check and health screening required

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts or related field
  • equivalent experience considered
  • ability to work with a large group of residents and customers
  • intermediate knowledge of cash handling and cash register operation
  • awareness of cost control responsibilities
  • basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • ability to work irregular hours
  • ability to speak in simple sentences
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals
  • ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • ability to perform basic math operations
  • ability to perform taste and smell tests
  • ability to carry out detailed instructions

Job Duties

  • Plan and direct the function of the food production department
  • ensure quality of food meets John Knox Village and state regulations
  • schedule staff and supervise the work of others
  • adhere to all safety regulations and requirements
  • handle stress well and maintain good relationships with coworkers and customers
  • maintain acceptable standards of workplace conduct
  • assist with menu planning, forecasting, purchasing, receiving, storage, and inventory control
