Job Requirements

  • Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional, or Dietetic Technician certification
  • Associate degree or higher in relevant field
  • Minimum two years food service supervisory experience
  • Preferably experience in long term care
  • Ability to plan, direct, and supervise dietary operations
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local food and nutrition regulations
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and inventory
  • Proficiency in record keeping and reporting
  • Capability to train and manage staff

Job Qualifications

  • Trained as a Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional, or Dietetic Technician, registered, or equivalent training
  • Associate's or higher degree in food service management or hospitality including food service or restaurant management
  • Food service supervisory experience required
  • At least two years’ experience in long term care preferred

Job Duties

  • Responsible for daily operations of nutrition service within the dietary department
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ensure food quality and safety standards
  • Provide nutrition care under direction of Registered Dietitian and Administrator
  • Plan purchase of food, supplies, and equipment using forecasts and records
  • Purchase food and supplies through DSSI and other vendors
  • Participate in budget planning and maintain budget compliance
  • Communicate with Registered Dietitian, nursing service, dietary personnel, residents, and families regarding nutrition care
  • Collect data and participate in nutrition assessment process
  • Provide routine progress notes in residents' medical records
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team care conferences
  • Ensure care plan interventions based on resident assessment and directives
  • Review and update dietary restrictions and weight measurements
  • Develop and use referral system for Registered Dietitian
  • Monitor residents' progress toward nutrition goals and adjust care plans
  • Visit residents for menu and dietary preferences
  • Maintain resident nutrition and dining information in electronic systems
  • Adapt services to resident preferences
  • Review weight records and communicate variances
  • Communicate resident nutrition information via reports
  • Ensure compliance with nutrition standards and regulations
  • Follow physician’s orders
  • Develop staff work schedules
  • Manage use of company menus and adjust for preferences
  • Develop system for daily menu communication
  • Review use of nutritionally equivalent substitutes
  • Direct ordering, delivery, storage, and use of food supplies
  • Train staff on dietary equipment use and maintenance
  • Complete assigned MDS section on time
  • Perform other duties as assigned
