Job Requirements

  • Culinary degree or associate degree or five years supervisory kitchen experience
  • Minimum five years total food service cooking experience preferably in a non-fast food or high volume operation
  • Experience with food service software systems
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles
  • Advanced food preparation and production skills
  • Experience with ordering and inventory management
  • Attention to detail in food presentation, flavor, and consistency
  • Proficient knife skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and move for up to four hours
  • Willingness to work Sunday through Thursday 12:30 pm to 9:30 pm
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals and temperature extremes
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to train and supervise staff
  • Valid references (minimum of three)

Job Duties

  • Assist executive chef and chef manager in daily food production
  • Ensure overall food quality and adherence to safety and sanitation standards
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff including enforcing safe operating procedures
  • Oversee distribution of recipes, work sheets, and production schedules
  • Manage inventory control including forecasting and requisitions
  • Assume opening and closing responsibilities for the kitchen unit
  • Assist with menu development, recipe testing, and special university or catering events
