Job Duties

  • Supervises the preparation, ordering, storage and serving of food items
  • Participates in quality control monitors such as test tray evaluations, tray accuracy, department logs and cleaning schedules, menu audits and performance improvement projects
  • Conducts daily kitchen inspections ensuring compliance with food service, sanitation, safety and infection control standards
  • Coordinates with vendors and maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and safe kitchen operation by placing work orders as needed
  • Engages in facility and hospital-wide initiatives and assists with special projects as required
  • Conducts training, in-services, presentations and daily huddles for food service staff documenting competency
  • Consults with team members regarding issues and solves problems with guidance from the food service director
  • Creates and implements three week cycle cafeteria menus and recipes
  • Oversees dining room cleanliness and orderliness
  • Manages food service personnel schedules and adjusts payroll accordingly
  • Investigates accidents and completes required reports ensuring employees receive necessary treatment
  • Participates in annual performance appraisals identifying learning needs and goals
