Job Requirements

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or equivalent certification
  • Associate's degree or higher in related field
  • Minimum two years food service supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Ability to manage budgets and inventory
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with electronic dietary record systems

Job Qualifications

  • Trained as a Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP), or Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR), or equivalent training from military or traditional education
  • Associate's or higher degree in food service management or hospitality with coursework in food service or restaurant management
  • Food service supervisory experience required
  • at least two years experience in long term care preferred

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the daily operations of nutrition service within the dietary department according to facility policy and regulations
  • Provides leadership and guidance to ensure food quality, safety standards, and resident needs are met
  • Provides nutrition care under the direction of a Registered Dietitian and Administrator
  • Plans purchases of food, supplies, and equipment using forecasts and inventory records
  • Purchases food and supplies through DSSI and coordinates with the purchasing department
  • Participates in budget planning and submits monthly reports while staying within budget
  • Communicates with dietitian, nursing service, residents, families, and other disciplines about food service and nutrition care
  • Uses company forms and guidelines for nutrition care
  • Collects data and participates in nutrition assessments
  • Provides routine progress notes in residents' medical records
  • Participates in interdisciplinary teams regarding residents' care plans
  • Ensures care plan interventions are based on assessments and resident choices
  • Reviews dietary restrictions and updates based on physician decisions
  • Develops and utilizes a referral system for dietitians
  • Checks resident progress towards nutrition goals and documents outcomes
  • Visits residents about menus, food service, preferences, and restrictions
  • Maintains current resident information in electronic systems
  • Adapts services to meet residents' dietary needs
  • Reviews weight records and communicates variances
  • Reports resident nutrition information using interdisciplinary reports
  • Ensures compliance with nutrition standards and regulations
  • Develops work schedules to ensure adequate staffing
  • Monitors and initiates use of company menus
  • Adjusts menus for resident preferences and refers to dietitian
  • Maintains a system to inform staff and residents of daily menus
  • Reviews use of nutritionally equivalent substitutes
  • Oversees ordering, delivery, storage, and use of food supplies
  • Trains staff on dietary equipment use and oversees maintenance
  • Completes MDS sections on time
  • Performs other duties as assigned
