Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a cook or in a similar kitchen role
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ability to work all assigned shifts including days, evenings, mornings and nights
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and lead a team
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and manage kitchen environment
- Willingness to comply with hotel policies and health regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a supervisory cook or kitchen staff role
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to follow recipes and standard food preparation methods
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience with inventory monitoring and kitchen equipment maintenance
- Ability to train and coach kitchen staff
- Effective time management skills
Job Duties
- Prepares all food items according to standard recipes and as specified on guest check to ensure consistency of product to the guest
- Visually inspects, selects and uses only food items ideal for cooking in preparation of all menu items
- Checks and controls the proper storage of product, monitoring age and condition of all food items to rotate and maintain highest quality
- Keeps all refrigeration equipment, storage and working areas clean and clutter free, complying with health department regulations
- Ensures preparation, plating and presentation standards are maintained and safety standards and regulations are followed
- Assists the kitchen management in ensuring ordering of all products are accurate and done in a timely manner
- Ensures all ordered products are received, stored and handled in conformance with state and federal food safety guidelines
- Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment to ensure a healthy, safe work environment
- Assists in overseeing all kitchen operational areas
- Supervises the proper setting up of each item on menus and ensures their readiness
- Follows all policies and procedures relating to the hotel and all local, state and federal laws and regulations
- Maintains regular attendance in conformance with established standards
- Keeps immediate supervisor informed of all problems or unusual matters
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff
- Assists in training and development of new kitchen team members
- Observes performance and encourages improvement
- Develops, coaches, counsels and supervises team members
- Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers
- Handles difficult situations effectively and communicates to F&B Director
- Attends mandatory meetings as requested by management
- Performs general cleaning tasks using approved cleaning products
- Keeps floors dry and clean to avoid slip and fall accidents
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Projects a favorable image of the hotel group and hotel to the public
