Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • No felony, theft, or stealing convictions
  • Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen
  • Must pass background investigation
  • Must obtain and maintain a gaming license
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work evenings, graveyards, holidays, and weekends
  • Ability to maintain open communication with management and other departments
  • Ability to maintain food handling and sanitation certifications
  • Ability to follow proper food handling and temperature standards
  • Ability to perform duties in a busy casino kitchen environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years experience in stewarding in a large, multi-outlet casino, hotel, or resort
  • Skilled in managing diverse, multi-lingual workforce
  • Knowledge of culinary facilities maintenance
  • Knowledge of FDA health code application
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation best practices
  • Knowledge of scheduling techniques
  • Ability to obtain Food Handlers card
  • Ability to obtain TIPS certification
  • Effective communication in English verbally and in writing
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Ability to maintain quality control and safety standards
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work professionally in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with all Tohono O'odham Gaming Enterprise policies and procedures including internal controls
  • Direct stewarding functions to promote cleanliness, sanitation and compliance with health regulations
  • Train stewards on safety and sanitation issues
  • Inform management of hazardous situations or emergencies
  • Communicate needs to supervisor to maintain par stocks
  • Alert Steward Supervisor of serious issues
  • Promote teamwork and coordinate with other departments such as warehouse, chefs, and managers
  • Assist with food dish-up and setup sheets as needed
  • Attend training meetings
  • Provide guidance and direction to stewarding team
  • Support brand service behaviors for customer satisfaction
  • Communicate with executive teams, managers, supervisors, and team members
  • Work to meet or exceed performance, budget, and team goals
  • Encourage mutual trust and cooperation among team members
  • Cover duties for team members' absence or find replacements
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of team members
  • Complete disciplinary procedures and documentation timely
  • Administer enterprise and department policies consistently
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Administer performance appraisals for direct reports
  • Follow proper food handling and temperature standards
  • Provide coaching and feedback to improve service
  • Lead maintenance and organization of kitchen equipment and sanitation
  • Demonstrate new techniques and equipment
  • Use enterprise computer systems daily
  • Keep food and beverage managers informed of issues
  • Analyze information and solve problems
  • Perform other duties as required
