Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • ability to read, write, and communicate effectively

  • ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform physical tasks required by the job

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one month of related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group situations
  • basic mathematical skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, computing rate, ratio, and percent
  • ability to apply commonsense understanding to follow written or oral instructions
  • proficiency in operating kitchen equipment such as dishwasher, steamer/kettle, mixer, oven, stove, fryers, slicer
  • familiarity with meal counting software and basic office equipment
  • commitment to food safety and quality standards

Job Duties

  • Assist with set-up of serving lines daily and ensure food is held at required temperatures
  • assist in preparation of foods following menu plans and company recipes
  • operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other kitchen equipment with proper certification
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
  • clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes
  • manage inventory stock using First In/First Out procedures and maintain storage cleanliness
  • monitor chemical usage and maintain dishwashing equipment
  • requisition food and supplies through Kitchen Manager
  • prepare baked goods and present them appealingly
  • perform batch cooking to maintain quality and presentation
  • set up and restock serving/bar lines and ensure proper temperatures
  • serve items with proper portion sizes and utensils
  • keep serving lines stocked with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes
  • prepare foods in compliance with menu plans, recipes, and regulatory standards
  • follow standardized recipes to ensure consistent quality
  • recognize reimbursable meals and follow meal pattern regulations
  • maintain accurate daily production records
  • adhere to HACCP food safety processes and keep temperature logs
  • follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • participate in safety programs and required training
  • uphold company core values
  • comply with timekeeping policies
  • handle customer money and operate POS systems ensuring only reimbursable meals are allowed
  • complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliations
  • submit hours worked through ADP or edit sheets
  • notify supervisors in advance of absences
  • perform other duties as assigned
