Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED preferred
- ability to operate kitchen equipment with proper certification
- knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally exert over 60 pounds of force
- ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
- reliable attendance and punctuality
- ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records
- willingness to participate in ongoing training and safety programs
- ability to handle customer monies and use point-of-sale systems
- ability to notify supervisors in advance of inability to cover shifts
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED preferred
- related experience or training considered an asset
- ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- ability to write simple correspondence
- effective presentation skills in one-on-one and small group settings
- mathematical ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
- commonsense reasoning skills to carry out detailed oral or written instructions
- certification to operate kitchen equipment such as slicers and mixers
- familiarity with HACCP, HHFKA, and CACFP food safety regulations
- teamwork and strong communication skills
- adherence to safety procedures and workplace policies
Job Duties
- assist with set-up of serving lines daily and make sure that all food is held at the required temperature
- assist in the preparation of foods in accordance with the menu plan and Opaa! recipes, as required
- plan and prep ahead for the next day menus
- operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification
- keep work areas neat, clean, and organized
- clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes
- keep inventory stock organized and practice first in/first out (FIFO) procedures
- clean, monitor chemical usage, and maintain equipment in the dishwashing area
- requisition appropriate amounts of food and supplies through the kitchen manager
- prepare bread, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods as required by the menu plan
- batch cooking to maintain a quality product and excellent food presentation
- set up serving/bar lines and ensure all food is held at the proper temperatures
- serve items as needed with proper serving sizes and utensils
- keep serving lines/condiments supplied with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes as needed to customers
