Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one-month related experience or training
  • ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds frequently
  • ability to occasionally lift over 60 pounds
  • ability to follow safety and food handling procedures
  • ability to work in hot, cold, wet, or humid conditions
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
  • completion of food safety and sanitation training

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
  • experience with kitchen equipment operation preferred

Job Duties

  • Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure proper food temperatures
  • assist in the preparation of foods in accordance with menu plans and recipes
  • operate kitchen equipment with proper certification
  • keep work areas clean, neat, and organized
  • clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes
  • practice inventory management with FIFO procedures
  • maintain and monitor dishwashing equipment and chemical usage
