Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum one month related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Effective communication skills with customers and team
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to follow detailed but uncomplicated instructions
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to exert over 60 pounds of force occasionally
  • Availability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
  • Willingness to adhere to safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to attend required training and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Basic food preparation experience preferred
  • Certification or ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety procedures
  • Understanding of meal pattern regulations under HHFKA and CACFP
  • Ability to keep accurate production and safety records
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development

Job Duties

  • Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at required temperatures
  • Assist in food preparation according to menu plans and Opaa! recipes
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria equipment and dishes
  • Manage inventory stock using FIFO procedures
  • Clean and maintain dishwashing areas including chemical monitoring
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager
  • Prepare baked goods as required by the menu
  • Conduct batch cooking for quality product and presentation
  • Set up and restock serving/bar lines ensuring proper food temperature
  • Serve items with appropriate serving sizes and hospitality
  • Keep serving lines stocked with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes
  • Prepare foods in compliance with menu plans and standardized recipes
  • Follow meal pattern regulations according to HHFKA and CACFP
  • Maintain accurate daily production records
  • Comply with HACCP food safety logs and record food temperatures
  • Adhere to safety rules and report unsafe conditions
  • Participate in safety incentive programs and training
  • Handle customer monies and operate cash registers as required
  • Complete necessary paperwork including tray counts and meal reconciliations
  • Clock in/out and report attendance timely
  • Notify supervisor of inability to cover shifts with proper notice
  • Perform other duties as assigned
