Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Up to one-month related experience, training, or equivalent combination
- Ability to stand and walk frequently, lift up to 60 pounds occasionally, and move objects up to 25 pounds frequently
- Ability to see with concentrated attention, depth perception, and color vision
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment with proper certification
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and food safety procedures
- Adherence to safety rules and willingness to report unsafe conditions
- Ability to handle customer payments accurately
- Availability to attend meetings and complete training

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Up to one-month related experience or equivalent training
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and write simple correspondence
- Ability to present information effectively in small group situations
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as dishwasher, steamer/kettle, mixer, oven, stove, and slicers
- Knowledge of meal counting software and basic office equipment
- Strong attention to safety and cleanliness protocols
Job Duties
- Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at required temperature
- Assist in food preparation according to menu plans and recipes
- Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification
- Keep work areas clean, neat, and organized
- Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes
- Maintain inventory stock using First In/First Out procedures
- Clean, monitor chemical usage, and maintain dishwashing equipment
- Requisition food and supplies through Kitchen Manager
- Prepare baked goods such as bread, cakes, and cookies as per menu
- Batch cooking to maintain product quality and presentation
- Set up serving/bar lines and maintain temperature control
- Serve food with proper portion sizes and presentation
- Keep serving lines stocked with food, condiments, napkins, silverware, and dishes
- Prepare foods in strict compliance with menu plans and recipes
- Follow standardized recipes for consistent products
- Recognize reimbursable meals and follow HHFKA and CACFP meal patterns
- Keep accurate daily production records
- Follow HACCP food safety procedures and maintain food safety logs
- Adhere to safety rules and report unsafe conditions
- Participate in safety incentive programs
- Attend meetings and complete yearly training hours
- Promote Opaa! core values
- Comply with Timekeeping Policy
- Handle customer payments and operate cash registers or POS system
- Complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation
- Submit hours worked through ADP or edit sheets
- Notify DNS of absences as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
