Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Up to one-month related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment with certification
  • Must be physically able to perform duties including lifting over 60 pounds occasionally
  • Must maintain adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to comply with administrative tasks such as recordkeeping and cash handling

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes accurately
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and meal pattern requirements
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely with proper certification

Job Duties

  • Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure food is held at required temperatures
  • Assist in the preparation of foods according to menu plans and Opaa! recipes
  • Plan and prep ahead for upcoming menus
  • Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other kitchen equipment with certification
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and kitchen equipment
  • Clean dishes and kitchen areas including dishwashing and storage
  • Manage inventory using First In/First Out procedures
  • Remove clean dishes and store appropriately in serving areas
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager
  • Prepare baked goods such as bread, cakes, and cookies according to menu
  • Maintain batch cooking practices for quality and presentation
  • Set up serving and bar lines and restock items as needed
  • Serve food with proper portion sizes and utensils ensuring quality and hospitality
  • Keep serving lines stocked with condiments, napkins, silverware, and dishes
