Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Up to one-month related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to exert over 60 pounds occasionally and frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds
- Ability to maintain concentrated attention, depth perception, sharp focus, and color vision
- Willingness to work in inside and outside conditions
- Ability to work around moving mechanical parts
- Willingness to be exposed to wet, humid, hot, cold, and noisy environments
- Ability to comply with company safety rules and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, and percent computation
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
- Experience with kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, grinders preferred
- Understanding of food safety practices including HACCP procedures
- Familiarity with POS or meal counting software preferred
Job Duties
- Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and make sure that all food is held at the required temperature
- Assist in the preparation of foods according to menu plans and Opaa! recipes
- Plan and prep ahead for the next day’s menus
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
- Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes
- Manage inventory stock following First In/First Out (FIFO) procedures
- Clean and maintain dishwashing equipment and chemical usage
- Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager
- Prepare baked goods as required by the menu
- Batch cook to maintain quality and presentation
- Set up serving/bar lines ensuring proper food temperatures
- Serve food with proper portion sizes and utensils
- Keep serving lines stocked with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes
- Ensure compliance with menu plans and recipes
- Maintain accurate daily production records
- Follow HACCP food safety procedures and logs
- Report unsafe conditions and participate in safety programs
- Complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation daily
- Handle customer monies and operate cash registers or POS systems
- Notify DNS of shift coverage issues and emergencies
- Attend meetings and complete required training
- Demonstrate and promote company core values
- Perform other duties as assigned
