Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one-month related experience or training
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • effective communication skills for customers and coworkers
  • ability to follow detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally exert over 60 pounds
  • certification for operating kitchen equipment such as slicers and mixers
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas
  • adherence to safety and food handling regulations
  • availability to work shifts as scheduled
  • willingness to participate in ongoing training and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one-month related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • effective presentation skills for one-on-one and small groups
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and ability to interpret bar graphs
  • commonsense problem-solving skills for standardized situations
  • proficiency using kitchen tools and equipment such as dishwasher, steamer/kettle, mixer, oven, stove, fryers, slicer, thermometers, and meal counting software
  • strong commitment to food safety and compliance
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks

Job Duties

  • Assist with set-up of serving lines daily and make sure all food is held at required temperature
  • assist in food preparation according to menu plan and recipes
  • operate kitchen equipment with proper certification
  • keep work areas neat, clean, and organized
  • clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes
  • maintain organized inventory stock using FIFO procedures
  • clean and monitor dishwashing equipment and chemical usage
  • requisition food and supplies through Kitchen Manager
  • prepare baked goods as per menu
  • batch cook to ensure quality and presentation
  • set up and maintain serving/bar lines with proper food temperatures
  • serve items with appropriate serving sizes and utensils
  • maintain food and supply levels on serving lines/condiments
  • handle customer monies and operate cash registers
  • complete daily paperwork and meal reconciliations
  • maintain accurate daily production records
  • follow HACCP food safety procedures and logs
  • comply with safety rules and report unsafe conditions
  • attend all required meetings and training sessions
  • promote Opaa!’s Core Values
  • participate in safety incentive programs
  • notify DNS in advance of shift changes
  • other duties as assigned
