Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one-month related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to stand, walk, sit, squat, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, grasp, feel, taste, smell, talk, hear, and reach
  • ability to occasionally lift over 60 pounds and frequently lift or move objects up to 25 pounds
  • ability to concentrate visually with depth perception and color vision
  • ability to follow simple instructions
  • ability to work in environments with moving mechanical parts and exposure to varying temperatures
  • availability to comply with safety protocols and company policies

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • ability to read and write simple correspondence
  • effective communication skills for small group and one-on-one interactions
  • basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • ability to interpret bar graphs
  • commonsense reasoning to follow instructions
  • experience with kitchen equipment preferred but not required
  • knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP procedures a plus
  • willingness to participate in required training and meetings

Job Duties

  • prepare breakfast and lunch offerings
  • assist with serving lines
  • participate in occasional catering functions
  • perform all kitchen positions
  • set up serving lines and maintain food temperature
  • prepare foods according to menu plans and recipes
  • operate kitchen equipment with proper certification
  • maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas
  • clean kitchen and cafeteria including equipment and dishes
  • manage inventory using FIFO procedures
  • clean and maintain dishwashing equipment
  • requisition food and supplies through Kitchen Manager
  • prepare baked goods as required
  • batch cook for quality and presentation
  • ensure serving lines are stocked and cleaned
  • serve food with proper portions and hospitality
  • keep serving lines supplied with necessary items
  • handle customer monies and operate cash register
  • complete paperwork and meal reconciliation
  • submit accurate timekeeping records
  • notify DNS of scheduling issues
  • other duties as assigned
