Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
- basic food preparation knowledge
- ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
- strong communication skills
- ability to follow safety and food handling protocols
- ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally
- capability to stand and walk for extended periods
- reliable and punctual
- willingness to attend training and meetings
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
- ability to write simple correspondence
- effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings
- basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpretation of graphs
- ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions
- ability to handle problems with few variables
- certified in operation of kitchen equipment is an asset
Job Duties
- Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure food is held at required temperatures
- assist in the preparation of foods in accordance with the menu plan and Opaa! recipes
- operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification
- keep work areas neat, clean, and organized
- clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes
- maintain inventory stock and practice First In/First Out (FIFO) procedures
- clean, monitor chemical usage, and maintain dishwashing equipment
- requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager
- prepare baked goods such as bread, cakes, and cookies
- batch cook to maintain quality product and presentation
- set up and restock serving/bar lines ensuring food temperature compliance
- serve items with proper portions and utensils ensuring quality presentation and hospitality
- keep serving lines and condiments supplied with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes
- prepare foods in strict compliance with menu plan and recipes
- convert and follow standardized recipes
- recognize reimbursable meals and follow meal patterns as per HHFKA and CACFP
- maintain accurate daily production records
- follow HACCP processes and maintain food safety logs
- adhere to safety rules
- report unsafe conditions
- participate in safety incentive program
- attend required meetings and training
- promote Opaa! core values
- comply with timekeeping policies
- handle customer monies and operate cash register or computer
- complete daily paperwork and meal reconciliation
- submit hours worked accurately
- notify DNS in advance of absences
- perform other assigned duties
