Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • basic food preparation knowledge
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to follow safety and food handling protocols
  • ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally
  • capability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • reliable and punctual
  • willingness to attend training and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings
  • basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpretation of graphs
  • ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions
  • ability to handle problems with few variables
  • certified in operation of kitchen equipment is an asset

Job Duties

  • Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure food is held at required temperatures
  • assist in the preparation of foods in accordance with the menu plan and Opaa! recipes
  • operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other equipment with proper certification
  • keep work areas neat, clean, and organized
  • clean kitchen and cafeteria areas including equipment and dishes
  • maintain inventory stock and practice First In/First Out (FIFO) procedures
  • clean, monitor chemical usage, and maintain dishwashing equipment
  • requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager
  • prepare baked goods such as bread, cakes, and cookies
  • batch cook to maintain quality product and presentation
  • set up and restock serving/bar lines ensuring food temperature compliance
  • serve items with proper portions and utensils ensuring quality presentation and hospitality
  • keep serving lines and condiments supplied with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes
  • prepare foods in strict compliance with menu plan and recipes
  • convert and follow standardized recipes
  • recognize reimbursable meals and follow meal patterns as per HHFKA and CACFP
  • maintain accurate daily production records
  • follow HACCP processes and maintain food safety logs
  • adhere to safety rules
  • report unsafe conditions
  • participate in safety incentive program
  • attend required meetings and training
  • promote Opaa! core values
  • comply with timekeeping policies
  • handle customer monies and operate cash register or computer
  • complete daily paperwork and meal reconciliation
  • submit hours worked accurately
  • notify DNS in advance of absences
  • perform other assigned duties
