Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one-month related experience
  • ability to read and write simple correspondence
  • ability to perform basic math calculations
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • capable of physical activities including standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally over 60 pounds
  • ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy environments
  • certification to operate kitchen equipment
  • reliable attendance and punctuality
  • adherence to safety and hygiene protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one-month related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
  • strong communication skills
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and ability to interpret graphs
  • commonsense understanding to follow written and oral instructions
  • ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
  • certification to operate kitchen equipment such as slicers and mixers
  • experience with meal counting software and POS systems

Job Duties

  • Prepare breakfast and lunch offerings
  • assist with serving lines
  • participate in occasional catering functions
  • perform all kitchen positions
  • set up serving lines daily and maintain proper food temperatures
  • stock milk coolers
  • assist with food preparation according to menu plans and recipes
  • operate kitchen equipment with certification
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
  • clean kitchen and cafeteria equipment and dishes
  • manage inventory and follow FIFO procedures
  • monitor chemical usage and maintain dishwashing equipment
  • requisition food and supplies
  • prepare baked goods
  • batch cook for quality and presentation
  • serve food with proper portion sizes and utensils
  • keep serving lines and condiments stocked
  • handle customer monies and operate cash register
  • complete daily paperwork and meal reconciliation
  • submit work hours accurately
  • notify supervisor of shift changes
  • attend required meetings and training
  • comply with food safety and HACCP procedures
  • enforce reimbursable meal regulations
  • promote Opaa! core values
