Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one-month related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • basic math skills sufficient for job duties
  • physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and exert up to 60 pounds occasionally
  • ability to stand, walk, squat, kneel, climb, and perform other physical activities required by kitchen work
  • capability to follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • flexibility to work in environments with varying temperature and noise levels

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • effective verbal communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • ability to apply commonsense understanding to execute detailed but straightforward instructions
  • experience or ability to use kitchen machinery such as slicers, mixers, grinders, dishwashers
  • knowledge of food safety standards and meal pattern regulations desirable

Job Duties

  • prepare breakfast and/or lunch offerings and assist with serving lines
  • participate in occasional catering functions
  • perform all positions within the kitchen including food preparation, operating kitchen equipment, and cleaning
  • maintain food safety and HACCP compliance including temperature logging and record keeping
  • set up and restock serving lines ensuring all food is held at proper temperatures
  • handle customer monies and operate POS systems as required
  • complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation tasks daily
