Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • up to one month related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
  • ability to write simple correspondence
  • basic math skills
  • ability to apply common sense
  • ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds
  • ability to stand and perform physical activities for extended periods
  • certification to operate kitchen equipment where applicable
  • compliance with safety procedures
  • willingness to attend training and meetings

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • ability to read and write simple instructions and correspondence
  • ability to present information effectively
  • basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and understanding of ratios and percentages
  • ability to apply common sense to follow instructions and solve problems
  • experience operating kitchen equipment preferred
  • understanding of food safety and HACCP procedures
  • familiarity with meal pattern regulations such as HHFKA and CACFP
  • good interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare breakfast and lunch offerings
  • assist with serving lines
  • participate in catering functions
  • perform all kitchen positions
  • set up serving lines and maintain food temperature
  • prepare foods according to menu and recipes
  • operate kitchen equipment with certification
  • keep work areas clean and organized
  • clean kitchen and cafeteria equipment
  • manage inventory using FIFO procedures
  • maintain dishwashing area and equipment
  • requisition food and supplies
  • prepare baked goods
  • batch cooking for quality and presentation
  • serve food with proper portions and hospitality
  • supply serving lines with necessary items
  • handle customer payments and operate POS system
  • complete paperwork, tray counts, and meal reconciliation
  • submit work hours and notify supervisors of absences
  • attend meetings and complete required training
  • follow safety procedures and report hazards
  • maintain compliance with timekeeping policy
